Exfoliation – Everything You Want to Know

Exfoliation Everything You Want To Know

Almost all of us know we should exfoliate, but do you truly know why? Read on because I'm going to tell you.

Nearly everyone knows exfoliation is the ritual of scrubbing your skin to sloth away dead skin cells that build up and clog up your pores. It is well known that exfoliating is one of the best ways to improve the overall quality of your skin.

Benefits of Exfoliation

Exfoliating has a number of long-term benefits that everybody can enjoy. The skin improvements that can be seen just from the removal of dead skin cells and impurities from the skin’s surface is amazing.

Exfoliating allows new skin cells to rise to the surface faster and acclimates to the environment more quickly. This results in an improved overall glowing and even appearance in your skin.

When the skin is fresh and exfoliated, products absorb more quickly, easily and more deeply. Moisturisers and other serums are able to penetrate unimpeded by the presence of dead skin cells, and the youthful glow is further amplified by the appropriate products.

Exfoliation Will Also allow you to enjoy medical benefits.

Exfoliation has proven to increase blood circulation, enabling an influx of nutrients provided to the skin.

With less dead skin cells cluttering the dermis, more nutrients and oxygen can flow into the skin cells, improving the skin functions. It can be one of the best ways to improve color, texture and even overall metabolic activity.

Exfoliation Is The Secret To A Great Spray Tan Or Wax

It is very important to prepare your skin and remove dead skin cells if you are looking for immaculate results from other treatments such as tanning and waxing, Studies show that preparing the skin by exfoliating can allow you to enjoy a deeper tan and more even coverage. Exfoliating before and in between waxing greatly reduces the chance of ingrown hairs and ensures that silky smooth skin.

No matter what type of skin you have, it is important to exfoliate. Unfortunately too much exfoliating can do damage to your skin. I recommended two – three times a week is ideal.

Always Use Water

Always be sure to use warm water when you exfoliate. Some exfoliating products may be too coarse and uncomfortable when they are applied to the skin on their own. Water will generally help limit the friction, which in turn reduces the risk of skin injury and discomfort.

Only Use Exfoliating Products As Directed

Make sure to only use the appropriate exfoliating products as intended and on the recommended areas of the body/face. Companies are careful to describe exfoliators as either body, face or both.

Often body exfoliating products contain larger granules designed to work better against the body’s tougher skin. So avoid using body exfoliators on your face and make sure that you match the product’s intended skin type with your own.

Consider Environmentally Friendly and Ethical Products

I also like to make sure that exfoliate products are free from microbeads that are harmful to our environment. I prefer to use natural forms of manual exfoliant such as a mitt or products that contain sugar, salt, coffee, oats or seeds.

Exfoliation goes hand in hand with amazing skin, phenomenal tans, beautiful makeup, smooth and ingrown hair free waxing. It really is the best at home treatment you can do for your skin, so please add this to your beauty ritual, you can thank me later!
